Alibaba B2B and B2C eCommerce platforms set their foot in Taiwan next year
Alibaba.com (HKSE1688) CEO David Wei revealed its parent company Alibaba group’s plan to release its business-to-consumer (B2C) online Taobao Mall and its business-to-business (B2B) Alibaba paid services TrustPass and Gold Supplier Starter Pack in Taiwan next year.
The news was reported by Sina last week. Mr Wei added that if it can reach 10,000 users in Taiwan, it will introduce its Alibaba Finance, Alibaba Education, and SME IT Business Department services to the island. The move marks the first time Taobao Mall and TrustPass have been opened to an overseas market, the report said.
Mr Wei also said the company has 2,500 corporate members in Taiwan after establishing an office on the island in last July. Currently Alibaba.com employs a workforce of 56 in Taiwan, the report said.
According to Mr Wei, Taobao Mall in Taiwan will mainly emphasize B2B e-commerce, while the TrustPass service will help Taiwanese users to enter the mainland wholesale market, predominantly to make manufacturing industry purchases, and the Gold Supplier Starter Pack will help expand overseas orders for exports-oriented companies.
