Alibaba heads South to build an eCommerce Center in Shenzhen
Alibaba.com (HKSE1688) quickened its pace to become a major international service provider in Shenzhen. The B2B eCommerce platform has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shenzhen Municipal Government yesterday.
Alibaba will establish its Research & Development Center for its software business cluster in Shenzhen and will continue to expand in several areas, including electronics and information, banks, insurance and logistics. Currently, Alibaba has 5,000 employees in Guangdong.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Alibaba Group chairman and CEO Jack Ma revealed his plan to set up a new e-culture, building blocks to serve 10 million small and medium enterprises (SME), which cater for the needs of 1 billion consumers worldwide.
“I believe the next 30 years would be period of rapid development of e-Commerce.” Mr Ma said.
