Alibaba leaps into web personalization
In a bid to help users find their products and buying leads, Alibaba.com (HKSE1688) initiates her first move to personalization. The recommendation system will learn from users past behavior and recommends product sub-categories that she would find most valuable from among the available categories.
A handful of active users would see a new batch of product categories marked with “Your Categories” above All Categories on the homepage. The B2B trading platfrom will keep track of users’ keyword search, inquiry sent and also take other factors into account to deliver their best recommendations.
The second changes Albaba.com users will notice is the recommended buying leads and products in the centerpiece on the Alibaba home page. The recommendation, however, has a time delay but would deliver new data and information once a day.
SuperDeals users will find their perferred product group display once they login Alibaba.com. Aliuser however, found it’s very strange that users are being taken to a “no matching result” page after clicking on the photo images. Should it be fixed before it got launched?
