China C2C Taobao to invest in TV online shopping
Taobao.com and Radio, TV broadcaster Hunan Satellite Television plans to set up a joint venture to push online shopping through traditional media.
As a leading operator of China C2C marketplace under Alibaba Group of companies, Taobao.com is to form a joint venture with Hunan Television in an attempt to expand its selling channels. It’s reported that Taobao will set up a special shopping column on the B2C retails website and it will take part iin the production of TV programs, movies relating to online shopping.
The new company, which starts from a registered captial of RMB100 million, will showcase products from sellers of Taobao.com, and cooperative brands of Hunan Satellite TV Station. Taobao.com will take care of the transaction, payment, and logistics service of the platform, while the venture is responsible for its daily operation
