China trade figures recovers

China latest trade figures continue to show a rebound with the  mainland exports surging  17.7 percent to US$130.72 billion (HK$1.02 trillion) from one year ago. 

The General Administration of Customs said yesterday that imports jumped 55.9 percent up to US$112.29 billion. Exports for the whole of last year fell 16 percent year on year and imports were down 11.2 percent. 

The trade surplus for the year was US$196.06 billion, the first drop in six years because of the global financial crisis.

To strengthen the mainland’s recovery and achieve sustainable development this year, Beijing would pay more attention to its economic restructuring, said government officials at a New Year economic forum in Beijing yesterday.
